The Way to Happiness in Darién

Bringing calm, ethics and humanitarian aid to Panama’s remote border communities.
The Way to Happiness Panama team and SENAFRONT officers instill the common-sense morals from The Way to Happiness in the youth of remote border communities.

The National Border Service of Panama, known as SENAFRONT, is charged with safeguarding Panama’s borders and population—but its work also extends into community outreach and humanitarian support. In the remote Darién Province, along the Panama–Colombia border, SENAFRONT has partnered with TWTH Panama to bring practical moral guidance to local and indigenous communities facing ongoing challenges.

The project began with an assessment tour through villages of the Emberá tribes along the Rio Chico and Tupiza Rivers. TWTH representatives and SENAFRONT officers met with community leaders to understand their most urgent needs. Alongside a lack of medicine and health services, residents voiced concerns about security, citing robberies and lingering fear after having experienced narco-guerrilla crossfire in past years.

In response, TWTH Panama began training SENAFRONT officers in The Way to Happiness so they can serve as stabilizing influences in their areas. So far, 63 officers and 56 cadets have been trained, with the first officers already distributing TWTH booklets in local schools. Coordination is also under way with religious organizations to provide medical assistance and additional support.

This growing collaboration marks an important first step—offering a glimpse of a happy future for Darién and beyond.

SHARE THE ROAD
TO A HAPPIER LIFE

Each of The Way to Happiness precepts is predicated on the reality that one’s survival depends on the survival of others and that, without the survival of others, no joy or happiness is attainable.

L. Ron Hubbard stated: “If one keeps the edges on the road, one can’t go far wrong. True excitement, happiness and joy come from other things, not from broken lives.

“If you can get others to follow the road, you yourself will be free enough to give yourself a chance to discover what real happiness is.”

Therefore, we offer bundles of 12 booklets so you can read it yourself and give copies to your contacts and friends.
